Knitting with love

Knitting projects have been important to Mothers’ Union members in Cork for a long time and, while this seems to be a small thing to do, receiving a gift of a little bonnet and blanket for a very premature baby or a prayer shawl when you are unwell in hospital can really make a difference.
Members, young and old, produce the most beautiful bonnets and blankets for the Neonatal unit at Cork University Maternity Hospital.

Comfort Teddies have been knitted by many different people over the years, members and non-members. They have been a comfort to refugee children in the Mediterranean, to victims of crime and to children affected by homelessness and domestic violence.

During the COVID pandemic members knitted and crocheted prayer crosses and hearts for use in pastoral ministry, both in parishes and in the hospitals.
